controlling Agilent RID 1100 without ICF

We need to install the 1100 RID into another HPLC-configuration (Hitachi). In the driver description there is a GPIB/USB cable mentioned from Keysight. This article is obsolete and the replacing cable only has drivers up to Win XP. Is another USB.GPIB cable also possible, like from National Instruments ?

With this cable I suppose we will be able to control the RID as an extra detector together with the Hitachi.

Thanks

Dear Kirsten,
actually the connection to the 1100 RID depends on the communication board installed in the detector. It may use GPIB communication or LAN communication - the older the detector is the bigger chance that it has GPIB communication board. We are aware that the GPIB communication interface is obsolete, but it is still found in the older second-hand instruments and the USB-to-GPIB interface can still be obtained from second hand market. We have no experience with non-Agilent replacements - the detector may work using National Instruments converter, but we can only guarantee the functionality using 82357A USB/GPIB Interface or 82350A PCI/GPIB Interface.

The detector will always be added as a separate detector next to the Hitachi system, you will have to take care of the synchronization in a proper way. Proper way depends on the number of factors, one of which is the fact whether the Hitachi system will have it's own detector or whether the Agilent RID is the only detector in the set. The second most important part is whether the Hitachi set has an autosampler or a manual/automatic valve is used for sampling. As the configuration of such mixed system may be rather tricky, please let us know the exact components used in the system.

Best Regards,
Daniel
