Shimadzu GC 2010 with a headspace CTC analysis hsPAL

Post by Monique »

Has anyone else been experiencing this problems:
1. the vials get stuck in the incubator
2. it tries to put a vial ontop of another vial in the holding try after taking the vial out of the incubator
3. Puts the vial down in the holding tray and stops instead of picking up a new vial

We have been battling for a long time with numerous issues as per the above 3 problems, can anyone out there give us some guidance?

Thank You
Monique

Dear Monique,

1) vials stuck in the incubator may be a mechanical problem (labeled or poor quality vials) or consequence of some software error/synchronisation issues

2) it is a known problem. Please avoid using the pause/resume of the sequence, it may result in handling the incorrect vials. The sampler also does not clean up the vials from the oven or detect the occupied positions - results in shooting the vials across the lab. It is necessary to remove left vials from oven before starting the sequence.

3) we will need additional info to find out the reason. Could by again synchronisation issue.

Please could you let us know (by e-mail to support@dataapex.com) the station serial number and Clarity version you are using? Several problems with the CTC-PAL in headspace mode will be fixed in the comming Clarity update, we could provide you with a preliminary version for testing.

Dear Ivan

Thank you very much, you have been very helpful. I also thought is might be synchronisation so will change the settings. I will contact you at a later stage.

Kind Regards
Monique

Dear Monique,

Clarity version 5.0.1.461 was just released, I will recommend the update as some bugs in the CTC-PAL were fixed there. Please note

The previous HS_Inj.cyx and GC_Inj.cyx were replaced by amended ones. Recreating the methods may be necessary, those referencing to amended/missing cycles could not be edited.

Not Ready state detected on the CTC Ready input will trigger Reset Device after 6 sec, resulting in aborting the sampler. It is necessary to set the GC run time and GC Cool down times long enough to prevent this.

The first injection in sequence is not optimized – the run is used to determine the sampler processing times needed to calculate the optimized timings for subsequent injections.

All rows in Sequence are locked immediately after sequence start, those added during run will be locked at next injection, even when they are using different methods/injection volumes. Note using larger injection volume or method with longer processing times later in the sequence may result in the Reset Device.
