Fraction collector data

Post by ScottHorn »

On a couple of my clarity stations, I use the FC GP module to control Bio-Rad 2128 fraction collectors. The fraction collector functions as expected, but occasionally the chromatograms generated by clarity do not show the fraction numbers. The show events check box has no effect when this occurs. Sometimes the times and volumes for the fractions are present in the "FC GP" results tab, even though they are not displayed on the chromatogram. Most often, however, the data is not present in that tab either. It seems as this occurs most often when the run has ended due to the last tube being reached, or if the run is stopped or aborted before finishing. What could be causing this issue?

Dear Scott,
I do not see any apparent reason for this behaviour, however, I might be able to find some when inspecting the system files. Please, send us the usual diagnostic files, please, so we may look into the matter. The needed files would be:
  • c:\clarity\clarity.cfg
  • c:\clarity\clarity.dsk
  • c:\clarity\systeminfo.txt
  • c:\clarity\badtrace.txt and all *.dmp files (may not be present, they are created during some problems only)
  • c:\clarity\log\ *.audit for the days the problem appeared
  • a chromatogram (*.prm) file that shows the bad behaviour, and, if you have one, a chromatogram that is OK.
  • a method (*.met) file used to acquire the chromatogram
Please, send the files to support@dataapex.com, we will inspect them and will be probably able to come up with the solution. Also, which station does produce this behaviour (station number) and what Clarity version you run on it? An update to the latest released version may solve the issue for you as there were some amendments performed in the FC GP module.
