making good use of the output relays

Post by remesquaddie »

Greetings. I have a client who would like to make use of the output relays function to drive an external , non HPLC related item.
Is there a way to activate an output switch when a slow moving dc signal such as peaks in HPLC, reaches a specific output level?

Exactly for this purpose there is the Event Table in Clarity. Supposing you have a device which has TTL outputs available (such as DataApex A/D converters and several control modules), you may set the desired behavior there. The type of the device operated by the output signals does not matter - Clarity can operate chromatographic equipment this way as well as anything other that may be operated with the use of inputs.
To get to the Event Table, use the Method - Event Table command from the Instrument window. You can select a source of the event being triggered (in your case, this would be Input> from the desired detector set to the needed value) and the output that will send the signal, including the type of the signal (change from High to Low, From Low to High or a Pulse). The event would be triggered every time the signal raises from below the entered signal level above it - not when descending below, for that the Input< event should be filled in. Virtually any number of different events can be set in the table.

Note that at present it is only possible to send the signals during the analysis run. From version 3.0, it will be possible to set the events also outside of the analysis run.
