U-pad BSOD (blue screen of death)

Good morning.
one installation of clarity (rev. 2.1.0.00 s/n 11-20074) with his U-PAD is
driving me crazy.
The problem started when the customer called me because the U-Pad was
not recognized anymore by the software,
who gave "can't find integration card or hardlock key".
After fighting a lot I decided it was time for a new XP installation, so
format hd, reinstall os... and all the driver as you imagine.
Installed clarity, no problem so far. After have the U-Pad inserted and
recognized as new hardware, I was able to see it
in the system, device manager, usb port.
In this conditions, if I launch clarity, a blue screen appears, then the
PC reboot itself.
The error screen is so fast I am unable to read much. The only thing I
can say is that there is some
sort of message such "BAD_POOL_HEADER".
Nevertheless to say I downloaded the cswupad.sys updated, but, worst
than ever, I have the same behavior on three
other Pc I have in office.
The thing it makes me so upset is that XP find the new hardware, names
it Upad bla bla, says it is working correctly...
but it crashes miserably.
If I do not connect the Upad, clarity sw, despite the hardlock message
works fine.
Help please.
Paolo

U-pad BSOD (blue screen of death)

Dear Paolo,

this seems to be a long ago known and solved problem with the U-PAD driver and Windows XP service pack 2

Please download the latest version of Clarity 2.3.0.97 (suitable for your station without HW key) and reinstall Clarity (with U-PAD disconnected) - the version 2.1.0.0 is rather old. It may be good idea to uninstall the U-PAD driver first and then remove the U-PAD before new installation. I will also recommend to remove the previous installation of Clarity using the Remove Clarity command from Windows Start menu, Program files, Clarity group. This will remove the program files only, without this step the IQ check will probably fail.

Alternatively, you could download just the cswupad.sys driver from

http://www.dataapex.com/sharedScripts/d ... .php?id=52

and replace the current one in the windows\system32\drivers folder. Please check the driver version is 5.0.1.2 or higher after installation, it is sometimes difficult to persuade Windows not to use the old driver.

Best regards
