Clarity Lite and Windows Vista

Post by paoloueb »

I' m trying to install Clarity lite on this new pc with Windows Vista
installed.
I can' t get to have it working.
The software release notes state that I have to install release 2.5, but
it is not available in the download page.
I also searched inthe discussion for vista related topics, but it seems
to me that noone else than me bought
a vista equipped pc. Here we can only buy these version of windows.
I downloaded the latest version wich is 2.4.xx, from the download site.
It says thai I do not have a detector installed, and neither a demo module.
In device management I have the chromatograpy device installed, version
7.10,
but the interrupt is 20 (14h), and I cannot change it at all, although
the board is a
Int7adc converter.
Any suggestion?
Thanks for any help.

Clarity Lite and Windows Vista

Post by Ivan Vins »

Dear Paolo,

the current version of Clarity Lite available on our web pages (2.4.4.124) already contains the updated drivers compatible with Windows Vista. We do not plan to perform the full compatibility testing of version 2.4.4 under Windows Vista, however you can probably use it till the version 2.5 will be released.

In case you have installed some earlier Clarity Lite version, the drivers for HW key and INT7 board are not compatible and will cause a crash of the system. An attempt to remedy:

1) remove the HW key
2) uninstall Clarity Lite
3) uninstall all drivers for Dataapex HW (INT7 A/D board in your case). Use Control Panel, Programs, and uninstall the Windows Driver Package - DataApex ..., or alternatively remove the driver using the Device manager. Ignore (Cancel) the New HW found dialog appearing at this stage.
4) install the Clarity Lite version 2.4.4.124 (from our web pages, section downloads, full versions)
5) restart the computer
6) insert the key
7) start Clarity Lite

I am not sure all steps are necessary, however it worked on my computer. Alternatively, complete Vista reinstallation could also help.

Best regards

PS: I am cursing Vistas all the time I have to use them, I believe nobody in his senses will switch to them voluntarily.
