Hi Guys,
I have a customer using Sykam HPLC with Clarity v.4.0.4.987 and they want to buy from me a detector Azura RID 2.1L.
In this case first the customer has to upgrade this old Clarity version to a newer version.
My question, Is it possible for this customer to download the new version 7.4, unistall the old version 4.0.4 and then install directly the version 7.4 ? Will the original USB license key valid or he has to buy anything else from DataApex ?

Re: Clarity Upgrade from v.4.0.4.987
Hi Marco,
thank you for your inquiry.
Any current customer may download new version of Clarity station - there are two ways:
a) Clarity is on a PC connected to the Internet - the customer may use Help - Check for Updates command from the main station window
b) Clarity is not on a PC connected to the Internet, customer does not want to download on the work PC or customer wants to update several stations at the same time - then the customer needs to visit our website, section Downloads - Full Versions, where latest Clarity release is always available.
Prior to either action, a registration is needed, either from the station (case a)) or on our website (case b)). While registering on the website, customer needs to fill in the serial number of his station, which he can find by using Help - About command from the main window. During registration from station (using Help - Register) the serial number is filled in automatically.
It is generally recommended to check the PC and OS requirements prior to the update.
The procedure is exactly as you say - you do not even need to uninstall manually as running the downloaded install.exe file will ask about performing the uninstallation first anyway. Please note that while updating from versions as old as 4.0.4 the folders may not be reorganized correctly, for the quick solution please follow this FAQ. Double update (4.0.4 ---> 6.2, then 6.2 ---> 7.4.1) will solve the possible problems, but is definitely not necessary as the remedy is quicker in direct update 4.0.4 ---> 7.4.1.
If the new Knauer Azura detector is just another (additional) detector for customer's current HPLC system, he does not need anything else then the installer. In case the detector will be a part of brand new HPLC system being run from the same PC, then additional Instrument license (p/n C55) may be needed.
