Waters 510 Pump

Post by ScottHorn »

I am trying to control a couple of Water's 510 pumps using the CB20 control board. These pumps are listed in the "Clarity Controls" document as being supported, but I can't find information on the voltage and/or frequency ranges necessary, nor the pinout for the remote connector on the back. Waters tech support told me that this information is not included in the manual. Is there some driver I can use, or is this information published elsewhere?

Dear Scott,
default values for frequency-governed pumps on CB20 are prepared for Waters pumps, thus no specific settings should be necessary. However, sometimes the Waters pumps only get every other frequency impuls, and because of that it is necessary to check the expected and real flow delivered, and in case they do not match, set the frequency to twice the default number.
Also, if you want to change the flow, it might be useful to set the Max Change of Flow to no more than 1 ml/s, as some Waters pump models have problems with that rapid change of the flow.
For the description of Waters pump control specifics and the CB20 connector please check the Clarity CB20 manual available on our web pages, for the description of the Waters pump connector please consult the 510 pump manual by Waters.
DataApex also provides custom cables for interconnection of Waters pump and CB20 card - this cable allows to monitor the exceeded pressure limits. The scheme of the cable is enclosed in the attachment.
